Sarah and Steve moved over from Ashford in Kent six years ago, and now top up their pension by renting out part of their home every summer. With the first guests about to arrive, Sarah battles spiders and Steve battles the erratic French shop opening times to get things ready in time. Cheryl has been in France less than a year and now lives in a beautiful farmhouse she couldn't imagine affording in the UK, along with her husband, three kids, mum and dad, and a menagerie of animals.

Elaine and Andrew search for their dream home and a new life in France after selling up in the UK, while Steph attempts to persuade the local mayor to let her paint the shutters on her new home the same colour pink as her hair. it is opening day at Les Roches, a very British restaurant in rural France, and Andy is worried about getting all his supplies on time, while Richard is stressing about having to speak French to actual French people.
