Recently divorced from the somewhat self-absorbed Neesee, the mother of their endearing 6-year-old son, Robert refuses to buy into the old stereotype that being divorced means you can't get along with the ex.

Entertainment reporter Robert James raises his young son while balancing the demands of his ex-wife with those of his girlfriend. In the opener, he receives the divorce papers from his ex-wife and asks his son for permission to marry his girlfriend.
