Kyutaro is a swordsman who was feared by people at one time. Now, he is poor and lives alone quietly. Kyutaro doesn't know how to earn money without using his sword. By chance, Sakichi happens to see Kyutaro's swordsmanship and offers to hire him for a job.

A mail home is returned and the postman does not know how to handle it. The neighbour helps. The cat is unhappy and the shopkeeper thinks she knows why. The samurai enlists the help of the children at the temple and the cat is the subject of much attention.
