Healthcare reform in Hong Kong is a controversial topic. The government plans to privatize public hospitals and raise funds to maintain operations. Marshall Paxton, a leading public hospital, has become a pilot for reform. This drama focuses on the everyday workings of medical professionals and the politics behind the healthcare industry in Hong Kong.
Marshall Paxton Hospital CE Yeung Yat-to puts forward Opening Up of the Drug Formulary Bill in LegCo, and he has also invited tuberous sclerosis complex patient Chiu Yuen-lan to share her experience. But oncologist Ip Ching simply opposes the bill. Yuen-lan abruptly passes out. Dr Lee Man-shun has a traffic accident, and he and some public light bus driver are taken to MarsPax. Dr Lui Oi-ling forces her ex-boyfriend Man-shun to act as assistant surgeon. While Yat-to removes blood clots in the brain for Yuen-lan, her lung tumor abruptly ruptures and bleeds. Ip Ching comes forward to offer help. Yat-to is not sure whether Deputy CE Tong Ming and Ip Ching should perform collaborative surgery. Meanwhile, Oi-ling and Man-shun attempt to extract splinters from the cervical spine and repair some artery for the public light bus driver.
